Fabric laid up on top wing
End view of Ray's wing before stitching
Fabric for Ray's top wing laid out on the Nieuport.  This was done so that the preliminary cutting can be accomplished. Ray's top wing before he rib stitches it. He has already punched properly spaced holes in the fabric.

Ray rib stitching
Rear view of Ray's top wing before he rib stitches it. The date is June 9, 2002. Here Ray is rib stitching on June 10, 2002. Note that the curved rib stitching needle cost about $6.60 and the straight one $2.15. So Ray bought a straight needle, heated about 1" from the tip to low red heat, and bent it into the proper angle, saving $4.45!
