Saturday, February 11: EAA Chapter 1467 Winter "Chili" Fly-in at the Gaston Airport, Gaston, SC (2SC8) starting at 12:00 noon. EAA 1467 President Randy Berry would like to invite you to attend their Tree Top Flyers, EAA Chapter 1467 Winter “Chili” Fly-in. They plan to serve lunch from about 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm consisting of various chilis, crackers, warming beverages (wassail, coffee, hot chocolate), iced tea, soft drinks and desserts on a donation basis. This will be a very relaxed informal event simply for the pleasure of meeting and enjoying the company of other pilots and aviation enthusiasts. It’s also an opportunity for you to show off your aircraft. Feel free to fly in and out as you wish. They plan to have traffic advisories on 122.9. If you wish to bring your own delicious chili recipe, dessert or other food item, please do so. However, nothing is requested of you other than your attendance. In case of bad weather, the alternate date for the event is the following day, Sunday, February 12, 2012. They hope to see you there.

Saturday, March 10: BSA Merit Badge University at the Thomson-McDuffie County Airport (KHQU) Thomson, GA.  The Merit Badge University of the local Georgia-Carolina Boy Scout Council will be conducted Saturday, 10 March 2012.  In the morning, I go over the classroom type items; in the afternoon, weather permitting, I take up the (usual) 12-14 Scouts, two at a time for 15 minutes flights in my Cessna 172SP over Thomson city while those on the ground prepare and fly their foam plate gliders.

Friday, June 8: Special meal for EAA 172 Members and guests
Friday, June 8, is a special EAA 172  "bring-your-own-meat-to-grill" meal, around 6:00 PM, at the Wrens Airport. This is held for the club members and Fly-in guests. The club will provide baked potatoes and salad but bring any sidedishes and desserts you want.
Note that there is an Ingles supermarket just across the field if you want to purchase your meat and/or sidedishes there.

Ultralight-Light Plane Proficiency events including a bean-bag drop contest and Sanctioned AMA model airplane (RC) events will occur during the day. The historic Wrens diesel mill engine will be on display. Next to the airfield, tractor owners will display antique tractors they have restored. There will also be classic and antique autos.  There will be Young Eagles flights 10:00 AM to noon, depending on the weather and pilot/plane availability. Friday-Saturday, October 5 - 6: EAA 172 Wrens Fall Fly-in At the beautiful Wrens Memorial Airport (65J) CTAF 122.7. Early Bird Day Thursday, October 4th, but come even earlier if you wish. Most activities will be on Friday and Saturday with the main activities on Saturday.  Delicious grilled hot dogs and hamburgers available on the field all day Saturday. Packing-up day on Sunday. Pattern for the asphalt, main, runway, is left-hand pattern for runway 29 and right-hand for runway 11 at 1450' MSL (1000 ft AGL) unless flying an ultralight or  rotorcraft which should use 950' MSL (500' AGL). Personnel associated with the airport and the city of Millen will be selling the food and the menu includes hot dogs, hamburgers, french fries, egg rolls, candy, and boiled peanuts. Thursday, December 27: EAA 172 monthly "get-together" -- Social Meeting   6:30 PM -- This is a monthly non-business social gathering held on the fourth Thursday. Because of all the holiday happenings this month, there will be no EAA 172 social "get together". The next one will be January 24, 2013.
