See sportaviationassociation.org for more information of what’s planned.
According to the organizers, the SAA is more inclined toward "grassroots aviation" because EAA no longer seems to be interested in our type airplanes and interests. All types of airplanes are welcome. There will be several forums each day with some hands on demonstrations. Examples:  prop carving demo, rib making , building wooden airplanes, engine turning, etc. For more information, read about the "gathering" on the airport web site www.barnwellregionalairport.com .
This is the Friday-Saturday before the start of the Sun'n Fun Fly-in at Lakeland, Florida. The airport has plenty of 100LL, 93 Octane Mogas and Jet-A [ed. note: the cheapest 100LL in the area!]. Food will be available on the airport and there is a courtesy van for any who might want to go into town to eat. Everything in town is less than two miles away. Primitive camping is available on the airport. Restrooms are located in the terminal as well as one in the big hangar. There is one shower in the terminal.
The airport has two usable runways: 17-35 and 5-23. In addition, there is a 2500 ft grass strip, on the south-east side of and adjacent to runway 17-35. It will be marked with white marker panels prior to the SAA “Gathering” for those who prefer landing on grass. Fly in and enjoy the two day event. We expect to have home builts, antiques, classics and ????

Saturday, April 20: Central Georgia Peach Fly In Cameron Field Airport, Ft Valley, Georgia (GA81)(pvt.) (UNICOM 122.9).   On April 20th, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm,  there will be one of those rare fly ins that your wife will want to go to. ( That is if the pilot is the husband! ) Lane Peach Packing plant, ( lanesouthernorchards.com ) sits in a peach orchard and has a great restaurant in the front. Not only do they have the best peach cobbler you have ever tasted but they also have peach ice cream, etc. Lane does pecans too. The restaurant has a great buffet line or you can order your meal. Also there is a gift shop with all kinds of southern delicacies and fun items and you can sit in one of the 40 or 50 big wooden rockers across the front porch while you snack. For those driving, Fort Valley is just west of I-75 from Exit 142. But here is the best part for the pilots, there is a grass strip directly in front of the shop so while you enjoy your dessert you can watch planes come and go directly over you.

I'm Milford Shirley of FlightTime Radio ( flighttimeradio.com ) and we are planning on broadcasting our show there live. For flight planning the strip is called Cameron, it is a north, south runway and the identifier is GA81. The strip is 3,000 feet. Perry airport, ( KPXE ) is about 2 miles directly SE so you should be a little cautious for traffic but this should be a fun little Saturday destination. By the way, the Lane Packing Plant says that for any pilot and spouse they will give you a free dessert or 10% off your meal.
The event is planned for 10 to 4. If anyone is planning on joining us please drop us a note if you can, but it's not necessary -  milford@flighttimeradio.com  See you in Georgia,  Milford

Saturday, June 8: EAA 1467 SPRING/SUMMER FLY-IN -- at the Gilbert Airpark (SC45)   - This is to inform you that our “EAA Chapter 1467 Spring/Summer Fly-in” at the Gilbert Airpark (SC45) originally scheduled for Saturday, June 8th, has been postponed until Saturday, June 15th, 2013 due to approaching tropical storm Andrea, which it appears may drench our state with rain on Thursday and Friday and result in possible thunderstorm warnings over the weekend.
EAA 1467 President Randy Berry would like to invite you to the EAA Chapter 1467 Spring/Summer Fly-in. Please monitor our chapter website at www.eaa1467.org for announcements regarding possible postponement of the event due to bad weather. We plan to make a GO/NO-GO decision by Thursday prior to the event. The alternate date for the event in case of bad weather is the following Saturday, June 15th, 2013.

This will be a very relaxed event primarily for pilots, airpark members, and other aviation enthusiasts. We plan to serve a nice meal beginning at noon on a donation basis. We’ll be holding the event at the large hangar located about mid-field of our 3,500 (about 3,000’ usable) grass runway. We plan to have chapter members monitoring the radio on 122.9 to assist you with in-flight advisories and with aircraft parking. We’re located near the town of Gilbert, SC just off Interstate I-20 near mile marker #44. For further details, see below:

Note that this fly-in is being held at a different location (SC45) than our normal home base airport (2SC8). We look forward to seeing you there.

Sincerely,
Randy Berry
President,
EAA Chapter 1467

All forms of aviation are welcome, PPC, Ultralight, GA, Rotorcraft, etc.  Next to the runway is Lane Peach Packing plant ( lanesouthernorchards.com ) which sits in a peach orchard and has a great restaurant in the front.
