Saturday, January 4: 1st Saturday Breakfast & Aviation Program -- EAA 690  Gwinnett County's Briscoe Field, Lawrenceville, Georgia (KLZU). Breakfast and/or refreshments are available beginning at 8:00 AM in the EAA Sport Aviation Center, 690 Airport Road, at Gwinnett County's Briscoe Field. An "all you care to eat" Pancakes (and eggs, sausage and biscuits, etc.) breakfast. The price of breakfast for adults is $6, children under 10, $3. The program will begin at 10:30 AM and is open to all.  Ample aircraft and auto parking is available. Our guest speaker for the Program and Breakfast is Eric Davis, Georgia State Liason for the Recreational Aviation Foundation. The Recreational Aviation Foundation was founded by a group of Montana pilots who realized the threat of recreational airstrip closure was of national concern. The RAF is dedicated to preserving existing airstrips and actually creating new public-use recreational airstrips throughout the United States. Davis is an instrument rated private pilot with just over 500 hours total time.

Saturday, January 11: EAA Sweet Onion Aviators Chapter 1332 - Business Meeting 7:00 PM in Hangar 2 at the Vidalia Regional Airport (VDI), 2921 Airport Rd., Vidalia, Georgia 30474. CTAF/UNICOM 122.8. Holly Nielsen, the Newsletter Editor and Young Eagles Coordinator for EAA 1332 announced that this coming Saturday, January 11, their EAA chapter will hold a business meeting in the evening. Holly Nielsen will be providing the entrée’-- white chili, and all members are invited to bring side dishes or desserts. Our program is an introduction to the new Baron Aviation Weather service now available in Vidalia  Regional Airport Weather Room. Billy Ragan will provide the overview of this new service available to all pilots patronizing the airport.

Saturday, January 11: 2014 Triple Tree Frosty Dog Electric - RC Event
at the Triple Tree Aerodrome located between the towns of Woodruff and Enoree, SC, on Mary Hanna Road, Woodruff, SC 29388 (SC00). Join them on one of the coldest days of the year and bring any type of electric aircraft. Registration is $10. AMA required. No impound, just show up and fly. 72 MHz ok.  With all the new RC stuff Santa brought you for Christmas, bring something old to sell.  There will be no camping for this event as it is a one day event (8:30 am to 6:30 pm). Lunch will be at 1:00 pm in the hangar (gas heat) and include Frosty Dogs, Kirby Fries, Bake Beans, and Little Debbie’s.  Lunch price - Meal $10. Event will be held rain or shine.
            Last year we had 106 registered pilots, enjoyed lunch with 150 guests and enjoyed a great time!  All 6 flight lines will be open for this event but most pilots seem to congregate around the main and 3D lines. The amount of swap shop items has also been growing each year, so come out and join the fun.

Saturday, February 8: 2014 First Triple Tree Chilly Chili Fly-In and Lunch at the Triple Tree Aerodrome located between the towns of Woodruff and Enoree, SC, on Mary Hanna Road, Woodruff, SC 29388 (SC00). The Triple Tree staff and volunteers would like to invite all general aviation pilots and their pilots to fly into Triple Tree on Saturday February 8, 2014 for our first Chilly Chili Fly-In and Lunch.  Join us for lunch on one of the coldest days of the year and land on our 7000’ x 400’ grass strip. You must purchase lunch tickets online no later than Friday February 7, 2014 7:00 P.M.  Drive-ins are welcome.  Please, no camping as this is a one day event, 9:00 am until 5:00 pm. Lunch will be at 12:30 in the hangar (gas heat) and includes: homemade chili, fresh bread, cheese, jalapenos, corn chips and dessert.  Adults $20, 12 and under $10.  All proceeds go to Triple Tree Aerodrome. No landing fees or spectator fees for this event. In the interest of keeping it simple when you land, please park in a single line, on the northwest side of the runway. Parking will begin south of the termination point of the white fence. There will be ground personnel to assist with parking and a shuttle bus to pick you up. Come on, you know that beautiful aircraft needs to get the oil circulating!

Saturday, February 15: Hamburger Lunch  EAA Chapter 1350 At the LaGrange-Callaway Airport (KLGC), LaGrange, Georgia.  CTAF 122.975. EAA Chapter 1350 will be having a hamburger lunch on Saturday, February 15th, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. This is taking the place of their pancake breakfast until daylight savings time. They will be serving fresh-cooked hamburgers, chips, drinks, good company, and all the sunshine you can soak up for only $5.00. Please Join Us!!! Five card stud poker rules (No wildcards—can play with 3 to 5 cards). In case of tied hand – High card cut will determine winner. Can draw one card at each site except at MRH draw 3. Sites are DPL, EWN, ISO, ACZ, OAJ, and MRH
Must sign name on face of cards when drawn. As many entrants per plane (or car) as you desire. Must pre-register by February 14 1800; Limit 52 players.
Two Levels of play:
Bronze: $5 Entry Fee – 1st Place wins $25, 2nd $10, 3rd $5
Gold --$25 Entry Fee – 1st –50% of Gold Entry Fee pot, 20 Gal of fuel, a custom aviation painting, and a T shirt;
 2nd 20%, a T-shirt and hat; 3rd place will receive 10% of Gold Fee pot.
 
All participants get a $0.40/gal fuel discount @ MRH (No Ramp Fee). All winners in both categories get gift bag. All participants receive a chili lunch at MRH.
Entry fee may be paid any time prior to drawing cards at MRH. Hands will be played at 1300 at MRH on day of Poker Run.

Saturday April 26: Vidalia EAA Chapter 1332 Young Eagles Rally At the Vidalia Airport (VDI) 32.11.55 N; 82.22.32 W.  Calling all Young Eagle Pilots!  Save the date....April 26, 2014 at Vidalia Regional Airport a Young Eagles Rally will be held in conjunction with the famous Vidalia Onion Festival.
 
Vidalia EAA Chapter 1332 will be hosting the rally which expected to attract hundreds of children who will be in town to attend the festival, see the fireworks, ride the carnival rides and attend the Uncle Kracker concert.  Our chapter is seeking qualified Young Eagle pilots to help us, and we have teamed with our Airport Committee to encourage participation through incentives for the pilots, including free admission to the festival activities at the airport (fireworks, concert, static displays, and vendor exhibits). We plan to open registration from 10:00 to 3:30 pm, and will fly the kidflights until the last registered Young Eagle is flown. We have 24 two-hour slots to fill between 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 pm.  The 24 slots will be structured in two-hour overlapping segments for the pilots to fly (ie 10:30 to 12:30, 11:30 to 1:30, 12:30 to 2:30, etc).
 
Additionally, a BBQ will be held Saturday evening following the rally for all volunteers, including the Young Eagle Pilots.  VDI will be closed during the hour of the evening fireworks.  We have a limited number of complimentary one-night hotel accommodations for Saturday night on a first-come, first serve basis for Young Eagle pilots coming from 100 nm or more from their home airport. Please let me know at your earliest convenience if you wish to participate and whether you will need overnight accommodations.

Members' cars run the automotive spectrum from "horseless carriage" to "muscle car", so no matter your favorite you'll find them at this years' show. Don Gay wants all his pilot friends to celebrate the summer at the Hacienda De Gay starting at 2:00 PM and to enjoy a "Pig Pickin' Low Country Boil" at the Hacienda De Gay. There will also be delicious Filipino foods such as steamed fish, egg rolls, fried rice, and lo mein among the other delicacies of that Southeast Asian country.
Directions:
Remember to land coming in over the pond on runway 17, NO MATTER WHAT THE WIND DIRECTION IS! The runway is grass, 2000 feet long, and is 75  feet wide but has an open space of 100 feet on each side of the runway. The airstrip, starting at the pond edge, has a gradual incline for about 500 feet, then tapers off to a slight incline to the opposite end.  After landing, taxi back down the runway to the pond and someone will guide you to parking. If no one is there, taxi between the little "outbuilding" and the pond to the parking area. The runway is located two miles EAST of Garfield off paved highway county number 289. For only $5.00 you get pancakes, sausage, and eggs by our master chefs, as well as orange juice, coffee, and all the sunshine you soak in. We added a canopy in July so you can enjoy the sunshine without getting too much of it. It will provide some nice shade and make the breakfast experience even better. School will be starting back in August and this would be a great way to take one more flying trip in the summer. If you feel like getting out and flying somewhere Saturday morning, we will have a breakfast waiting for you and will make sure your visit is an enjoyable one. Tuesday, August 19: NATIONAL AVIATION DAY  National Aviation Day is celebrated every year on the anniversary of Orville Wright's Birthday - August 19, 1871. It is being celebrated at the Wright Brothers Memorial, Killdevil Hills, NC. The First Flight Society is organizing events, including a fly-in, for this occasion and this year has received special National Park Service permission to hold their activities at the Wright Brothers Memorial. You can land at the First Flight airport: (airport owned by the National Park Service) KFFA  just below Kitty Hawk, NC and right next to the Wright Brothers Monument. It has a  3000' x 60' asphalt runway. However, no camping is allowed at the airport. EAA Chapter 1114 is scheduled to fly Young Eagles from that airport during the National Aviation Day activities. Saturday, Sunday, September 27 - 28: Atlanta Warbird Weekend  One of the last flying B-17 Flying Fortress bombers, “Sentimental Journey,” will lead a flight of vintage World War II aircraft to Dekalb-Peachtree Airport (KPDK) located in Chamblee, Georgia for the inaugural Atlanta Warbird Weekend, September 27-28, 2014.  Cockpit tours and flights will be available in the B-17 and other aircraft, including a P-51 Mustang and rare SBD Dauntless dive bomber. Other warbirds include the FG-1D Corsair, LT-6 Mosquito, PT-26, Zero replica, Kate replica, Harward and possibly a "British surprise." Organizers will also host “Big Friends, Little Friends” Dinner & Symposium at the 1940s-themed 57th Fighter Group Restaurant Saturday evening.  Noted author and historian, Bruce Gamble will give a B-17 presentation and moderate a bomber and fighter pilot panel discussion. For those driving, Fort Valley is just west of I-75 from Exit 142. But here is the best part for the pilots, there is a grass strip directly in front of the shop so while you enjoy your dessert you can watch planes come and go directly over you.

Saturday, October 18: EAA Chapter 1211 Fall Fly-in  Blairsville Airport (KDZJ) in Blairsville, Georgia. We cordially and enthusiastically invite you to the EAA Chapter 1211 Fall Fly-In, to be held on Saturday, October 18th starting at 10:00 am!  Come see the beautiful fall leaves as showcased by our mountains, visit with our very active EAA members and see some of our recently completed aircraft, enjoy a bowl of chili.  Fog can be typical in the mountains, but usually burns off very fast. The main meal will be Chili. A $5 dollar donation is appreciated. Blairsville is a very beautiful airport during the Fall and hopefully leaves will be near their peak next weekend! Come enjoy some good chili and the scenic mountains! The past few years the event has exploded in attendance with over 50 aircraft flying in! There will be no flying events/contests this year to minimize arrival and departure delays, and the north parking will be available if needed (shuttle across airport). Most activities will be on Friday and Saturday with the main activities on Saturday. You may come earlier in the week if you wish. Saturday, February 7: 2015 Triple Tree Chilly Chili Fly-In and Lunch at the Triple Tree Aerodrome located between the towns of Woodruff and Enoree, SC, on Mary Hanna Road, Woodruff, SC 29388 (SC00). The Triple Tree staff and volunteers would like to invite all general aviation pilots and their pilots to fly into Triple Tree for our first Chilly Chili Fly-In and Lunch.  Join us for lunch on one of the coldest days of the year and land on our 7000’ x 400’ grass strip. You must purchase lunch tickets online no later than Friday February 6, 2014 7:00 P.M.  Drive-ins are welcome.  Please, no camping as this is a one day event, 9:00 am until 5:00 pm. Lunch will be at 12:30 in the hangar (gas heat) and includes: homemade chili, fresh bread, cheese, jalapenos, corn chips and dessert. No landing fees or spectator fees for this event. In the interest of keeping it simple when you land, please park in a single line, on the northwest side of the runway. Parking will begin south of the termination point of the white fence. There will be ground personnel to assist with parking and a shuttle bus to pick you up. Come on, you know that beautiful aircraft needs to get the oil circulating!

Friday - Sunday, March 20 - 22: EAA Chapter 1195 FLY-IN Bud  Barron Airport, Dublin, Georgia (KDBN) CTAF 122.7. ZIPcode 31021. The fly-in is part of the city of Dublin's 50th annual St. Patrick's Day Festival which goes from March 1 to March 31. The first 100 pilots in will get 25 cents off self-serve 100LL aviation fuel and there will be a door prize of $100 worth of 100LL given away. Saturday, March 21 will be the main day with the club serving a free pancake breakfast/brunch. There will also be shuttles available to take you into town to participate in the local St Patrick’s Day festivities. Activities include huge crafts fair, Parade, an awesome car show and many other things if you want to explore the area away from the airport.
Re: gyroplanes. There will be primitive camping sites available for tents and RVs, hangars to park your  overnight, and hangars to spread your bed roles out in. Terminal has bathrooms and showers. Lots of farm fields to fly over and it should be a good time for all.

The Geico Skytypers will headline the Beaufort Airshow in South Carolina flying World War II-era SNJ-2 fighter pilot-training aircraft. The single-engine, 550 horsepower planes can fly up to 200 mph. Saturday - Sunday, April 18 - April 19: World War II Heritage Days: Falcon Field in Peachtree City. This will be a special recognition of the 70th Anniversary of the end of World War II and hosted by the Commemorative Air Force Dixie Wing, based in Peachtree City, Ga.  More than 200 volunteers from 25 organizations throughout the southeast will join forces with the CAF Dixie Wing to create the annual WWII Heritage Days. The event is family friendly.  Admission is free, although contributions are welcome. The recommended donation is $5 per person and children under 5 are welcome without a contribution. All proceeds defray the cost of the weekend and are used for restoration and maintenance of the Dixie Wing aircraft.

Saturday, June 13: Low Country Boil, Pig Pickin' at the HACIENDA DE GAY (7GA3). EAA 172 member Don Gay and his wife Langga want all their pilot friends to join in the celebration of their daughter Doña's high school graduation and son Don Gay IV's graduation from Georgia Southern University. You are invited to enjoy a "Pig Pickin' Low Country Boil" at Don's home, the Hacienda De Gay, starting at 5:00 PM. Besides the tasty barbecue and other Pig Pickin' favorites there will also be delicious Filipino foods such as steamed fish, egg rolls, fried rice, and lo mein among the other delicacies of that Southeast Asian country. Of course all of this is free as usual. Don also requests that there be no gifts.

Remember to land coming in over the pond on runway 17, NO MATTER WHAT THE WIND DIRECTION IS! The runway is grass, 2000 feet long, and is 75  feet wide but has an open space of 100 feet on each side of the runway. The airstrip, starting at the pond edge, has a gradual incline for about 500 feet, then tapers off to a slight incline to the opposite end.  The runway is located two miles EAST of Garfield, Georgia, off paved highway county number 289. Saturday, August 22: 50th reunion and FLY IN -- EAA Chapter 242 at the Jim Hamilton L B Owens Airport, Columbia, South Carolina (KCUB) CTAF/UNICOM: 122.8. ZIPcode 29205. Starts at 8:30 am at CUB. EAA chapter 242 will be serving FREE hot dog lunch with all the trimmings: slaw, kraut, and baked beans with gallons of iced tea and lemonaid. Eagle Aviation will be cutting fuel prices by 50 cents a gallon representing our 50 years - for ALL participants! That evening we will have a party planned like no other at 701 Whaley.
Party will start at 6:00 with a cocktails and socializing for an hour. Dinner will begin at 7:00 pm. EAA HQ will have A VP there for comments and field questions. Afterward we will dance the night away to the sounds of Big Band Swing Music. Tickets are $25 each.

Friday - Saturday, September 18 - 19: EAA 172 Wrens Fall Fly-in. At the beautiful Wrens Memorial Airport (65J) CTAF 122.7. Most activities will be on Friday and Saturday with the main activities on Saturday. You may come earlier in the week if you wish. Please call or e-mail (see below) if you are coming early, and when, so the power and/or water can be set up for you. On Saturday there will be a Bar-B-Q lunch which will start serving around noon and run until about 1:00 pm. Refreshments available the remainder of the day. Packing-up day on Sunday. Pattern for the asphalt, main, runway, is left-hand pattern for runway 29 and right-hand for runway 11 at 1450' MSL (1000 ft AGL) unless flying an ultralight or  rotorcraft which should use 950' MSL (500' AGL). The parallel grass strip will have a right-hand pattern.  CTAF/UNICOM 122.7 mhz. Runway lights on from dusk to dawn.  Field elevation 450 feet.

Saturday - Sunday, October 17 - 18: Boshears Skyfest 2015 - the 22nd Annual Boshears Memorial Fly-In and Airshow: Daniel Field, Augusta, Georgia (DNL Elev: 423 ft. LIGHTS: Activate MIRL for 05/23 & 11/29 123.05 mhz. GPS: N33°28'00" W82°02'36". AS YOU APPROACH THE AIRPORT, USE UNICOM TO CALL IN TO THE FLY-IN AIRBOSS. CTAF/Unicom: 123.05 mhz. Augusta Approach - 126.8 mhz. AIRPORT CLOSED 1:30 - 4:30 PM FOR THE AIRSHOW. 100LL & Jet A available. All who come in an aircraft get into the air show free. Parking will be on asphalt unless the ramp becomes full and parking on the grass is required. Those flying in should download Flying-in for specific fly-in information. Experimental Aircraft Chapter 172 will handle the fly-in and will register you and your aircraft when you arrive. A "goody bag" is available for the pilot and co-pilot of each aircraft that flies in which includes a meal ticket for the volunteer food tent. For the public the gates open at 9:00 am with opening ceremonies scheduled for 1:30 pm each day with the air show to immediately follow. General admission: $15 in advance, $18 at the gate.  There will be many performing airshow acts. Among them are Gary Ward Aerobatics, Greg Connell Aerobatics, Trenton Flyers, Alabama Boys and the World’s Smallest Airport, Team Aerodynamix, Greg Koontz Decathlon Airshow, Paratainment Parachutist Team, Fabulous Stearmen Formation Fly-By  --- Food, Vendors, EAA Chapter 172 will be on-site. There will be carnival rides, aircraft rides -- Dave Mars  - Vintage Bi-Wing Travel Aire & Huey Helicopters (Sky Soldiers) --- aviation displays, sponsor exhibits, monster truck rides, car show (vintage automobiles) and much more.  The GaSCar Antique Automobile Club will hold a car show on Saturday, October 17. Members' cars run the automotive spectrum from "horseless carriage" to "muscle car", so no matter your favorite you'll find them at this years' show. On Sunday morning, October 18, there will be a non-denominational Worship Service on the field at 9:00 AM.
